Welcome To FSA Training

Thank you...

for your decision to train and sit for the ServSafe Certification Exam through FSA Training, we appreciate your confidence and we assure you that your success is our first concern.

The benefits to training and being certified are threefold:

• you will learn (or brush up on) the necessary skills to serve safe food to all your guests;
• you should expect to receive higher grades on your routine regulatory inspections; and
• your operation will meet the health code requirement of having a Certified Food Protection Manager on staff at all times.

IMPORTANT — DOWNLOAD AND READ THE STUDY GUIDE AND TAKE THE PRACTICE EXAM PRIOR TO THE CLASS!

• WE CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH! For your success, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the subject material before attending the class. We make our comprehensive Study Guide available to you through these download links:

DOWNLOAD THE ENGLISH STUDY GUIDE (PDF)
DOWNLOAD THE SPANISH STUDY GUIDE (PDF)

This downloadable Study Guide is your permanent copy. At the class, your Instructor will provide you with a printed copy of the Study Guide which must be returned at the end of the class.

ON THE DAY OF THE CLASS

Dress, start time, class length, rest breaks, lunch

• Dress is casual — dress comfortably. As is typical in Florida, meeting rooms are normally kept cool. It is a good idea to bring a sweater or sweatshirt.

• Classes start at 9:00 am. Please be on time. Your class location is shown on the ticket you received by email after registration. If you need a reminder, you can see your class location on the FSA Training website at this link www.fsatraining.com Just scroll to the bottom of the page and click on your class as if you intend to register for it, and the next screen shows the class location.

• Your Instructor will begin by familiarizing you with the class format and other general information.

• Please expect the subject content review to take 4-1/2 hours. In the interest of time, two short 5–10 minute breaks are offered halfway through the material and at the end of the presentation.

• We do not take a break for lunch. You are welcome to bring snacks or any other food that can be eaten quietly during the class. Be sure to bring plenty of water!

AT EXAM TIME

• After the second break, the Instructor takes on the role of Exam Proctor and administers the exam. Once in the Proctor’s role, they can no longer discuss any of the material that was presented. No books, no notes, and no cell phone usage are permitted during the exam.

TAKING THE PAPER AND PENCIL EXAM

• The ServSafe Exam is a nationally recognized secure exam. The Instructor/Proctor is not allowed to know what questions are asked on the exam; therefore, you will receive the exam in a sealed envelope and you will return it to the Proctor when finished by resealing the envelope.

• You will fill out your registration information and record your answers to the 90 questions on a computer-read scantron sheet. These sheets are sent to Chicago for grading, and your results are available at ServSafe.com in about 10 days. Upon achieving a score of 70% or higher, you will be able to download and print your certificate.

• Your ServSafe Food Manager Certification will be valid for 5 years. The last page of your study guide gives complete instructions for downloading your certificate, which you will be able to do as often as you need during the 5-year period.

RETESTING (IF NECESSARY) POLICY

Unfortunately, there is the possibility that a student might not pass the exam (grade of 70% or higher) on the first attempt. In that event, there are two options:

– Retake the class and exam within 90 days of your original class date, $79.
(Or self-study from the study guide provided and arrive at a scheduled class 4-1/2 hours after its start time to take the exam.)

For either option, please phone your reservation to 888-372-3232 in advance.

GETTING YOUR EXAM RESULTS

Your exam score and downloadable certificate are available at ServSafe.com usually within 10 days of taking the class. FSA Training does not have access to your score.

If you enter your email address on the exam form when you take the test, you will be notified that your score is available. You will be directed to ServSafe.com and will select Check Your Exam Score.

If you have any difficulty, you can phone ServSafe directly at 800-765-2122 and they will assist you.
